OUR STORY

Each of our five tasting rooms provides a unique wine tasting experience. Our Woodinville locations include our original tasting room in the Warehouse District where we planted roots 20 years ago, and the Hollywood Hill Tasting Room where we offer daily tastings in the heart of Woodinville Wine Country. Located in the Bavarian town of Leavenworth, our third tasting room is nestled in the mountains alongside specialty shops, eclectic dining, spas and welcoming accommodations. We bring wine country to the city at our Seattle location in a modern, lofty space with indoor or outdoor seating and an inviting private event room. The newest addition to the Patterson Cellars location lineup is our 14 acre Estate Vineyard and Winery in unforgettable Walla Walla. Here you can stroll through the vines as you enjoy the stunning view of the Blue Mountains or watch the winemaking magic happen on a winery tour!

EXPERIENCE

Winemaker and Owner, John Patterson, creates approachable, new world style wines. Drawn to the science behind the art of winemaking, he considers the craft to be, “a unique puzzle as you approach harvest to produce wines that are consistent from year to year,” which speaks to the quality and caliber of the wines from Patterson Cellars.

John worked harvest at Quilceda Creek for 13 years then decided on a career change. He started Patterson Cellars in the year 2000 and now produces over 19,000 cases of wine each year. He opened a second tasting room in Woodinville’s Hollywood Hill Winery District in 2012, a third in the Bavarian town of Leavenworth in 2017, a fourth tasting room in Seattle’s Sodo neighborhood, and then a fifth in the Southside District of Walla Walla.

EDUCATION

John attended Everett Community College to obtain his Associates Degree in Natural Sciences.  He completed the wine certificate program at South Seattle Community College in Viticulture and Enology and is continuing his education at Washington State University to obtain his Viticulture and Enology certificate.

COMMUNITY

John’s reputation for collaboration and partnership with local wineries and breweries, combined with his vision for promoting Woodinville Wine Country make him a respected member in the Woodinville area.
